Days between two dates — calendar and working days

Pick two dates and the count updates as you type: total calendar days, and the working days inside them for comparison. The start day is not counted and the end day is, so Monday to the next Monday is 7 days.

Which convention your answer uses

Every days-between disagreement is a convention disagreement. This page counts midnights: start day excluded, end day included, so a week apart is exactly 7. Ages, deadlines and interest calculations almost always want this. Hotel nights and "days of the event" want endpoints included, which is this number plus one — the page states its convention so you can adjust rather than guess.

The calendar below the result draws the counted range, weekends and (with a country chosen) public holidays marked, which is the fastest way to sanity-check a deadline that crosses a holiday you forgot. For the reverse operation — a date some number of days ahead — the add-workdays calculator walks forward from a date.

How to use this
  1. Pick the two dates — either order works; the later date first counts backwards.
  2. Read the calendar-day total, with working days beside it so the gap is visible.
  3. Choose a country to mark its public holidays on the drawn calendar.

Worth knowing: The count is exact calendar arithmetic. What it cannot know is your convention — if your context counts both endpoints, add one.

FAQ

Is the end date included?

Yes, and the start date is not — the count is the number of midnights crossed. Monday to Friday of the same week is 4 days. If you need both endpoints counted (nights in a hotel are the opposite: endpoints minus one), add 1 to the result.

Does it handle leap years?

Yes. The arithmetic runs on real calendar dates, so 29 February exists in the years it should and the count across it is right.

Can I count days from today until a future date?

Yes — the first field starts at today. Put any future date in the second field and the result is the days remaining, with the working-day count next to it.
