What these pages are counting

A list of dates is easy; the useful figure is how many of them you actually get off. That depends on the country's own working week, so every count here starts from the rest days that country keeps rather than from a Saturday-and-Sunday assumption.

Each country page also shows where the long weekends fall — a holiday next to a rest day, with one bridge day in between — because that is what turns a day off into a trip.
